It was all a bad dream ........ well actually no it wasn't. The first 2 days were exactly as described ... awful.
Luda went to have her hair done yesterday, and the gossip from the salon was that pretty much everybody felt the same way and was pretty miffed at the first two days. Evidently there was a near riot at the organisers office.
It was probably all down to bad planning, or not checking up on acts before booking them.
So yesterday we had exactly what was on the side of the tin.
We were treated to two really good bands, one Russian and one I don't know where from but they spoke english with an accent.
The weather was fine, the scenery stunning, and the crowd very happy and relaxed. I even saw some Ukrainian men actually smiling!
Eating at UK festivals is usually a sorry affair of expensive plastic burgers. But here there was a village of barbecue tents, with smoke billowing across the beach and lots of nice smells. We had freshly grilled lamb, stuffed tomatoes and potatoes, all washed down with lashings and lashings of Crimean wine, which was sold straight from the barrel. Even managed to get a table in sight of the stage. Very civilised, and extremely reasonably priced, even allowing for a bit of inevitable festival profiteering.
Our week here is at an end, and tomorrow we have to hit the phones and find out about ferry crossings to Turkey. We can't just drive there together because Luda would need a visa to go through Romania and Bulgaria, so a ferry is the best bet, if we can find one. I have discovered that you just can't Google stuff easily in Russian!
Depending on what information we get, we will be heading east or west........
